I walk alone

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there would find me
Till then I walk alone

(Green Day- Boulevard of Broken Dreams)

It's been a long time since I last listened to this song, which happened when I was preparing my thesis proposal. After months of not exposing myself to music other than classical or liturgical, I feel that this song gives me a certain kind of comfort and strength. Is it the melody or the lyrics? Both of them do.

I love listening to Green Day and above is one of my favorite songs. I am especially attracted to the catchy melody and lyrics (This is way much better than nowadays' songs). This song tells us about someone who is alone. He doesn't have any company but he's been used to that kind of situation. As the consequence, he becomes shallow-hearted--incapable of deep feeling towards others. Actually, he wishes that someone else would come and stay with him.
Still, he walks alone and survives.

Well, it convinces me to survive, too.
